Next Edition of the Literary Journal

The library is now accepting submissions for the next issue of the Morton Literary Journal.  If you would like your work to be considered for publication, email it to   We are accepting original poems, short stories, and essays.  Please also submit original photographs and artwork.  Full submission guidelines are below.

All pieces must be submitted by December 30 to be considered for the January issue.

Morton Poetry Journal-Guidelines for Submission
Deadline for current issue is midnight on Friday, December 30, 2011.
The Journal will be published twice a year, once in fall and once in winter and will be available on campus and online free of cost.
Submissions are welcome from all current Morton Students. Work may be submitted by students who have attended Morton in the previous semester or who are registered for the upcoming semester. All instructors and staff are encouraged to submit work as well.
Submissions must be emailed to before the posted deadline for each issue. Written works may be emailed as an attachment or in the body of the email. If you want your work to be printed in a specific font or with stylized punctuation or styling, please submit your work as an attachment file. All photographs and images of artwork must be sent as a JPG or PDF. Works might be modified according space or size constraints. The Editors will not modify content.
Regarding photo and art submissions, please keep in mind that the journal will be printed in black and white on 8.5” by 5.5” pages. Please consider the size of the page when selecting the resolution and scale of your piece.
For print submissions, please do not exceed 1500 words.
All works submitted before the deadline will be considered by the Journal’s Editorial Board for inclusion in the magazine. The Library retains the right to publish all submitted work both in print and online.
All works must be original. We welcome all poems, essays, short stories, photographs, drawings, and comic strips.
